DesignJet System Error
Error Codes
No matter what model every plotter will generate DesignJet Error Code at some stage. This is when a sub-system fails, and the printer is unable to complete its boot process. They can even be generated whilst the plotter appears to be operating normally.
DesignJet error codes are used to report internal system errors corresponding to the failing part. This section of the website is designed to highlight some of the more common error codes and give a brief description of what is causing the problem.
Although, in most cases, the information points to the “culprit”, It is recommended that the actual replacement is carried out by an experienced engineer. Most repairs look easy when viewed on “YouTube”, however experience has shown more problems are introduced to the DesignJet by this method.
“If in doubt call the professionals out” Hutchins IT Limited have over 20 years’ experience in the DesignJet Repair sector. Every Plotter Repair undertaken is subject to our company’s “Total Care Solution” to ensure uniformity and professionalism for every repair undertaken.
DesignJet Error Code – Two kinds.
There are two kinds of Plotter Error Codes Continual and Non-Continual.
Continual Error Codes are generally advisable and can be alleviated simply by pressing OK on the front panel. This will enable the user to carry on using the DesignJet.
Non-Continual Error Codes are a bit more sinister. When one of these is reported, the printer will stop operating as normal and all printing will cease. In some cases, simply rebooting the plotter (switch off and back on again) can resolve the problem. However, if the error reoccurs its time to call out an experienced DesignJet Engineer to resolve the issue.
Its always a good idea to make a note of the error code and what the plotter was doing at the time.
To report an error and request an engineer to attend simply contact Hutchins IT Limited for a fast free, no obligations quote.
A DesignJet Error code is easy to decipher, but what happens when the display is blank? Rather than try to work out the issue simply call the engineers and let them help you work out what’s going on. A blank screen can be caused by a whole number of things. Use the experience of others to help. At Hutchins IT Limited if we can resolve the problem over the phone we will, with no charge to the customer.
How to Decipher DesignJet Error Codes.
The purpose of a system error code is to pinpoint the failing sub-system of the plotter.
This enables an experienced engineer to achieve a quality and efficient DesignJet repair.
Every error code follows the same format.
XX.YZ or XX.n.YY.m
Where:
XX: Failing subsystem or process (always 2 digits)
n/m: Failing subsystem or process index. This can be used to identify the colour of a failing ink cartridge for example.
Y: Who should perform the action (1digit). 0 he user, 1 experienced service engineer
Z: What should be performed. (1 digit)
In most cases, its best to phone an experienced DesignJet Service Engineer and be guided by them.
