DesignJet T920 Repair, Ripon, North Yorkshire
Once more into the breach, dear friends… Well, a trip to North Yorkshire to carry out a DesignJet T920 repair in Ripon.
Personally, I like these calls. This was for a customer of Hutchins IT Limited, who have 3 DesignJet T920’s on service contract with us. This means they get priority call out next day on site, (where possible), with all parts and labour covered. This does not include consumables as stated by the OEM. (Original Equipment Manufacturer).
With it being a contract call, obviously, there will be no charges for the repair work. Why do we like these calls? At Hutchins IT Limited, we believe attending for site for s DesignJet Repair under contract gives value for money to the customer.
Even though this was a contract call it was still subject to our Total Care Solution program. This is a procedure that is applied to every Plotter Repair we carry out.
It has been developed over our 20 plus years in the DesignJet Repair industry and ensures every repair is carried out to a professional and quality standard. This program has ensured we have a 95% first time fix rate for every call we do.
Anyway, back to the DesignJet Repair Ripon, after receiving the repair notification the customer was contacted to carry out a phone triage. This is done to ensure the exact nature of the problem so the correct parts can be assigned to the call.
Now fully equipped with everything needed for the fix time to depart for North Yorkshire.
The actual problem with the plotter was a printing issue. The machine would start printing, then just cut, and unload the media part way through. This is usually caused by core friction in relation to the spindle. Basically, the roll slips on the spindle when printing.
The usual cure for this is to recalibrate the rewind assembly and disable the core friction detect. However, our belief at Hutchins IT Limited is this facility is there for a reason and should not be disabled.
Our policy is to recalibrate the rewind assembly and install a set of roll feed arms. These are fitted on the inside of the roll cover and provide additional stability on the media roll when the cover is closed.
Although not originally installed on a single roll machine, like a DesignJet T920, they have resolved this issue every single time.
Once the repair had been completed, a full service and clean was carried out. This is standard on every DesignJet Repair undertaken by Hutchins IT Limited, as part of our Total Care Solution program.
Now just a matter of testing the plotter before sign-off back to the customer.
