DesignJet Repair Huddersfield T795
Today’s excursion entailed a short trip over the Pennines to carry out at DesignJet T795 repair in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. A pleasant journey of around 18 miles or so.
A long-standing customer was getting a DesignJet21.13 error code on their plotter which, was obviously unable to print.
This is a straightforward repair, although a lot of caution must be undertaken. Basically, a DesignJet 21:13 error is a failure of the service station.
DesignJet Service Station
The service station is responsible for looking after the printheads. Its primary purpose is to cap the printhead plates and provide a safe environment for them when they are not being used. The capping process prevents the print nozzles from drying out and becoming clogged. It also has a wiper for each printhead to keep them clean.
These are not the only functions of the service station; it has several other responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of the printheads and consequently the DesignJet’s print quality. It’s the “Swiss Army Knife” of the DesignJet world.
The easiest and quickest way to resolve this issue is to replace the entire service station. An awkward but not difficult task. However, one thing that MUST be done when replacing this sub-system is …. protection. Not for the engineer but for the floor.
The service station can contain a large amount of used liquid ink, of which a little drop on a carpet can go a long, long way. Best option is to place several layers of scrap paper under the right-hand side of the plotter, the more the merrier. Also have several plastic bin bags to hand along with a plastic container.
Our company policy is to take the service station off site as soon as it’s been removed from the machine. No excuses. Off the machine, bagged up, into the container then placed in the engineer’s car for refurbishment later.
Once the old service station is out of the way, the repair can continue in an orderly fashion. With the covers off and the old service station removed, a full service was carried out to the DesignJet. This is in line with our “Total Care Solution” policy. No matter what the problem is every plotter is cleaned and serviced during a repair visit.
Finally, with the machine fully serviced and cleaned, and the new service station installed, time to carry out the necessary calibrations, before replacing the covers. All that’s left is to complete a few test prints to the customers satisfaction and sign the DesignJet back over.
