DesignJet Repair Newcastle - T930
Bit of a trek the other day, call came in for DesignJet T930 repair in Newcastle upon Tyne. I do quite a few calls in “Geordie Land” for an IT Partner we sub-contract to, based in Northumberland.
With our philosophy, distance is not an issue, when a plotter repair is required, the machine can’t come to us, we must go to it. So, a nice early start to avoid the M62 congestion around Bradford and Leeds. Once this had been negotiated it was a relatively straightforward relaxing drive.
DesignJet T930
The DesignJet T930 was not reporting any error code, it was simply cutting the page part way through, then unloading the roll. This is an issue that occurs on this DesignJet platform.
First order on business on arrival, coffee! Seriously though, check and upgrade the FirmWare to the current revision. There is no point trying to resolve a DesignJet problem, without first ensuring the latest revision is installed.
From there, as part of our Total Care Solution, a full service was carried out to the machine. This is standard practice for every DesignJet Repair carried out by Hutchins IT Limited.
Once the plotter service was completed and the machine was now back a good standard, all required diagnostics were carried out along with the relevant recalibrations. Generally, this error is resolved by recalibrating the relevant sub-system.
The printheads were aligned and the paper advance calibration was undertaken.
The machine was then fully tested to both the engineers and the customers satisfaction. Around 20 prints were successfully completed. This may seem excessive, but this was an intermittent fault.
Although this seems a straightforward DesignJet Repair in Newcastle, there were a lot of processes that needed to be carried out. This issue of the DesignJet cutting and unloading media during the print is caused by friction on the roll spindle. However, to alleviate the problem totally and ensure a satisfactory outcome every step must be completed.
