DesignJet T2600 Repair In Chorley
Talk about a cool machine, these DesignJet 2600’s really are a piece of kit. They are such a good plotter and have the large PC display attached instead of the small touch screen.
Carrying out this repair for one of my DesignJet dealers, so actually going onto site as a third party representative. This is standard practice for me, as I carry out DesignJet repairs for several dealers.
The customer/dealer was a bit vague as to what was happening, so I was going onto site a bit blind. The machine had had a paper jam. Whilst this is not a common problem they do occur from time to time.
However, when the customer had removed the said jam, it was now jamming constantly when feeding into the stacker unit.
The problem with paper is it crumples up when it jams. Then when a customer removes it, it almost certainly rips. Consequently, shards of paper get stuck in the stacker unit input assembly. This is not normally a problem, as with a bit of experience and know how these can usually be removed.
No such luck, this was a major issue requiring the stacker unit to be removed. This revealed the true nature of the problem.
At some stage during the jammed paper being removed one of the input paper guides had become dislodge and was causing a major blockage to the paper path. Searched around and found the tensioner spring, repositioned the guide into its correct position. The paper feed should now be fully functional.
Reinstalled the stacker unit and powered the machine on. This was after carrying out a full service to the DesignJet as part of our Total Care Solution. This process is done for every DesignJet Repair we attend whoever it’s for.
Ran the stacker diagnostics and calibrations. Realigned the printheads. Ran a couple of internal test prints then let the customer send some prints.
Once the customer was happy with the performance the DesignJet Repair in Chorley was deemed as complete and the plotter was signed off back to the customer. Finally, the dealer was informed of the outcome and the call was closed on their system.
