DesignJet T3500 MFP - Error 21:13 Sheffield

After my exploits around the country earlier in the week I had a nice local call out to a DesignJet T3500 in Sheffield, in the Federal Republic of South Yorkshire. Just a short jaunt over The Pennines

This is an awesome DesignJet.

Built for a high output design office. Producing an A1 line drawing in around 21 seconds and up to 120 A1 prints per hour.

Its integral scanner allows you to copy drawings up to A0 in size as well as scanning to a network folder. Also, its vertical output stacker means drawings are neatly collated and “clutter” is reduced.

Unfortunately, this poor machine was broken and reporting a 21:13 error. Whilst this is a serious error its obviously not un-repairable. However, it is a messy job.

The first job on arrival was to protect the carpet, in case of ink spillage. can you add several layers of scrap paper were laid under the left hand side. Once this had been done its all fairly straight forward then for an experience plotter engineer.

Removed the left-hand cover and the old service station. Cleaned all the ink spillage and aerosol contamination from the surrounding area. Then it was literally a matter of installing a new replacement service station – but not before removing the old one from the premises. A lit bit of ink spillage on the carpet goes a long way!!!!

Cover replaced and the machine was given a good service and clean. The DesignJet T3500 platform does not have an aerosol fan to regulate ink contamination so a general maintenance is required to help prevent machine failure. A service and clean will reduce the possibility of failure but does not guarantee it.

Once the machine had been booted back up again, all the relevant calibrations were carried out to ensure correct functionality.

The printheads were aligned and a diagnostic print carried out. On conclusion of the calibrations and tests the machine was passed back to the customer for final testing.

Every DesignJet Repair carried out by Hutchins IT Limited includes a full service and clean. This is included in the cost of the repair and not an extra.

We strive to minimise a machines downtime thus maximising the machine uptime. This is beneficial to both parties. Repeat visits are not economical to either party. Therefore we endeavour to do the job right the first time
