DesignJet T2500MFP Repair Lincoln, Lincolnshire
Little expedition to carry out a DesignJet T25500MFP Repair in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Always enjoy this drive, once the M62 around Leeds and Wakefield has been negotiated. Traffic can be a “bit heavy” to say the least around these areas. Still once the job is done it’s a pleasant drive back along the A57 to the M1 just south of Sheffield. Providing another call doesn’t come in that is.
The plotter was reporting a DesignJet error code 09.01. This is an unusual call, one which personally I have only encountered once before. Its basically reporting a paper jam in the scanner assembly during the boot process.
This can be a very expensive fix if parts are required. It can also be a no parts fix if you know what you’re looking for.
So, first order of the day is to ascertain what was going on. As luck had it, no parts were required, and the problem was resolved with a bit of work and a lot of frustration. The machine booted up to Ready with no DesignJet error codes reported.
Time to carry out a full service to the machine. This is done as standard to any DesignJet Repair carried out by Hutchins IT Limited and forms part of our Total Care Solution policy.
DesignJet T2500 Service
This usually takes about 30 - 40 minutes to be done correctly. This DesignJet platform does not have an aerosol fan. This means excess ink form the print process is not extracted from the machine.
Minute particles of ink float away from the media surface and find a nice new home anywhere they can. They settle on the chassis, on the encoder strip, the star-wheel assemble, in fact, any place that will accommodate them. Eventually they are joined by other particles seeking a new home and form a community.
Over time and use, they build up into serious ink contamination that eventually prevents the plotter from working.
By carrying out good service and clean, these particles are “evicted” from the machine, ensuring the plotter can perform as close to optimal as possible.
Amongst other things the main areas for cleaning are – The encoder strip, the head transit rail, (which must also be relubricated). The drop-detect sensor aperture, the star-wheel assembly. All the internal chassis. Also, the stacker unit will become covered in paper dust, this is removed, and the paper sensors cleaned.
Now it was just a matter of cleaning and checking the glass on the scanner. Rebooting the machine and carrying out all necessary calibrations and testing. Due to the nature of the original plotter error code, it was also necessary to recalibrate the scanner.
Finally, the DesignJet T2500MFP was ready to be tested by the customer before being signed back over to them.
